Usually my brakes catch pretty high, now they're barely catching and they're all the way to floor. Once i put the pedal to the floor, my "brake" light comes on the console above the guages.
yeah i just bought an 84 and the brake adjusters were stuck so i took them off heated them up with a orch and adjusted them, then i put them back on and adjusted it and it was fine, and also your brake light may be on because your emergeny brake cable is broken.....at least thats what happened to me.
My friend's '86 brake booster went out, and his pedal was mush all the way to the floor. It also caused his brake light to come on. New booster, and his brakes worked fine. That's my one and only experience with them, so maybe it was an anomaly??
I recently had the same problem on my 84 and it wound up being the driver's side rear wheel cylinder was leaking. Changed it out, re-bled the line and walla! Problem cured.
Always start with the simple stuff
Did you bench bleed the master cyl before putting it on?
Did you bleed ALL four wheels?
Are you loosing brake fluid?
Auto Adjsters working?
Did you get it put back together right?
A falling pedal is normally caused by any one of these. It normally is not something all exotic.
I my self have never seen a bad vacuum booster create a falling / fading pedal. It just feels like when your pulling a disabled vehicle without the motor running and you have to stand on the brakes a little harder to get it to stop. Just a hard pedal that requires more effort to stop.
