Stock Running Boards

I am new to fords, f-150s and of course this website. I have a 1997 F-150 with the stock running boards that run the entire length of the vehicle.

I was wanting to remove them if it will not cause complications. Has anyone ever done this or have any advice? I figured I would try to remove a small section and check it out.

Thanks for your help!

Hi daywen and welcome to the forum

Removing the running boards should be no problem. There are probably just a few bolts that are screwed into J-nuts. Once you remove the bolts you might want to take a look at the bolt holes and see if they are rusty or bare metal or anything and decide if you want to seal them up or put some rust paint or whatever on them.
