I have been considering one with the bed for work because I need the load capacity. I pull a 28ft gooseneck equipment trailer with my '96 F350 now. I like the pickup bed best for carrying all my other junk at the same time. The thing I'm wrestling with is bed rail clearance with the 450. The F450 regular dually bed stands at 58" or 38.5" at the bottom of floor in the rear. This is about 6" taller than my old truck. I have seen my old F350 rail come within 3" of striking the underside of the gooseneck. If the price was right, I would go with one of the lower profile pickup beds. The regular modified bed I looked at runs about 5g's. I was given a price of $7700.00 for one of the others. I'll likely have a flat bed with sides made. Won't be nearly as pretty but I'll be more comfortable with it.

Mizzou,

Either of those would do nicely. Maybe I'll just get both so the wife can have one for groceries.

Why do people do anything. Takes all kinds.

A few people have actually asked here on FTE about swapping their badges for F550 or F650 badges.

I think I've actually heard of that truck, some of the lift guys here might be more familiar with it. If I recall, it did start life as an F250.

A ford dealer close too leesburg VA sells the F550 truck with the bed installed as do a few other's. they use a small platic panel between the bed and cab as the filler painted body color
