I bought a 99 f350 XL 4x4 crewcab PSD. The issue I have is the seats. (bench, vinyl w/ no adjustment. I cannot seam to find any used f250-350 40/20/40 seats on ebay or salvage yards. They say that the trucks do not get totalled but rather rebuilt which leaves no seats for purchase.
Is there another option to get comfort in this truck for a decent price. Will f150 seats work. I can fab up brackets but need some recommendations on what will fit and work the best.
Are you looking for OEM seats, power seats or aftermarket seats? I just replaced my XL cloth bench with a leather 40/20/40 last week. I found all kinds of places. I didn't need a power seat so the search was a lot easier. There are 3 or 4 companies who make and install aftermarket seats here in Dallas. I bought my seat from T&T Auto designs in Garland (972) 840-9799. They can get you seats from LLebroc, Qualitex, EZ Seat and some other manufacturers. For OEM seats, I found a couple of places out of state. I called Regency Conversions in Ft Worth and they told me that they sell all their takeout seats to LWM in Norman OK. (405) 360-7998. There's also a place in Indianna called Truck and RV Supply. (574)262-1850 They occasionaly have seats from conversion companies too. I bought my OEM aluminum wheels from them.
I guess you'll have to go with OEM seats. Either on Ebay or from LWM. Most (descent) aftermarket seats are between $700 and $900 for cloth seats. The OEM's go for about $500 to $900 depending on where you get them. What were you looking to spend?
It is a ranch truck. Spent its whole life on the ranch. I took apart the bench seat and relocated the bolts on the backrest so that I do not sit straight up and down. Have you heard of F150 seats working? I can fab up brackets easy. I want to spend as little as possible. <$350.
I was told that the F250/350 has a different "floor plan" than the F150's. The seats are suposedly narrower on the F150's. The back support legs of the seat would be easy to fit but the front supports... They may or may not line up. On your XL, you only have 4 bolt-ins (2 on each side) on the floor. The 40/20/40 requires 6 or 8. The brackets that I got on my truck would be easy for you to make but you would have to find an aftermarket seat with a flat base. I don't know if you can find a new seat for under $350 but maybe a used seat isn't out of the question. There are two shops that have used seats and they can tell you for sure if the F150 seats will fit in a 250:
Custom Seats Of Texas (972) 287-4392 and EZ Seating (972) 557-5594 .
I put a Qualitex seat in my 89 F-250, it was a great seat, I think it was called the "Trail Boss". I recently bought a 2001 F-250 SD with the XL cloth seat. I am going to replace it with another Qualitex seat, probably from CK Sales. I think they sell for about $450, plus 50 for the bracket and 125 for shipping. This is about the best deal I can find. Good luck
