I was searching for something else and this thread came up. I started this thread about a year ago. I was laughing so much reading it again. Just thought I would bump it for people who didn't see it first time around.

That was quite a read! I spend most of my time in the 7.3 forum, I was over here checking on some bypass filtration... I guess I won't ask!

 

that is some of the best ive heard on here!!!!!!!!! i never come in this part of town but am i glad i did tonight. like most i spend my time in the 385 or forced induction sections. guess it was the plowing ? that got me here.

 

1st time on this FORUM and I know it should die....BUT...It brought up a ?.

The guy was changing his oil after maybe 1k-2k miles (american) of extreme duty..I've always heard that plowing is tough on everything. SO if the original owner bought oil by the barrel ...the cost per qrt is halfed...right? Oil is recycled...engine should last forever...I wish the windsor i just got was treated that way...(thats not my ? though)

I get the concept that it's overkill...so no need to say ANYTHING that has been said already...I read the posts. The question is -

what would be considered extreme duty and how would one go about converting to a hobbs philosophy like in industrial equiptment and airplanes where it is time not miles or km. That makes a ton of sence to me and I've wondered it since i started flying and cheking the hobbs daily. BTW- never heard of a hobbs measuring revolutions- just time- but??? theres a lot i've not heard about.

AH! This thread. I forgot about it. Just to let everyone know the Bronco is gone. Body was in REALLY rough shape but motor was still nice and tight with lots of power. All the oil changing isn't benefiting anyone now.
