I have a 92 Bronco w/ a 351. Its seems the block maybe cracked so I guess it will have to be replaced. Of course I will have someone knowledgable confirm that but I'm sure thats the case ( coolant is running out the exhaust)(?). My question is, or one of them is, do I just get any ole 351 block or.... well I'm looking to make this truck something special. I'm a circuit fisherman and when I pull up to these guy's in their Tahoe's pulling their $45,000 bassboat, I want to know I can pull more and do it faster with gas mileage thats just as good. Where do I begin? I've read a little on headers, having true dual exhaust and chips...
Not all 351W blocks are the same. The early ones have a two piece rear seal and the later ones have a one piece seal. Get the one with a one pice rear seal. I forgot what year it was that ford switched.
The best way to insure you will out pull them is to install a super charger.
Having true dual exhaust you will need to address the O2 sensor some how. I've read something on this but can't recall what's done to resolve the issue of needing two.
A little port work on the exhaust side of the heads wouldn't hurt and headers can only help.
probably your block isn't cracked but maybe a head gasket failed or a head cracked especially if it was overheated, If it's a head gasket that's not too big a job.
