i found it interesting that at 100mph i'm running only 2500 rpm's. i've never gone that fast in this truck nor do i plan on it but itsn nice to know i can lol. the first site helped me out alot because i dont have a tach and i was always wondering what the engine was doing on the highway. the second site is cool just to plug in numbers. anybody know what the best cruising rpm's are. i thought it was about 2000 but i would have to 80 for that. at 60 mph i'm only running about 1500 rpm's. is that too low. i dont want to bog the engine. these 2.73 gears are horrable.
Yeah, 2.73's are bad, maybe they're okay in Nebraska on the flat for miles and miles but my 3.08's are bad enough, I can't imagine having 2.73's.
1500 is fine for the big 6, it's a real truck engine and a lugger, but you get peak torque at 2000. 3.55 gears are ideal for running along at about 55mph, it gets it right at 2000 with the M5OD that most later trucks have.
