i was told that there have been a few blow out problems with the ground hawgs on superduties???? when i asked they said it was because the superduty was to heavy...... Has anyone else heard similar sroies?
That is true and has also been the case for Swampers as well. Both companies have taken measures to fix that problem though by making alot of their tires in a 10 ply option or by doing away with the 6 ply all together. I know Swamper still offers both plys, but I'm pretty sure that Denman Hawgs are only made in a 10 ply now. I'm sure if you asked what ply that problem happened on, it would have been the 6 ply. If you get the 10ply, you should be fine. I'm running 10 ply 39.5" swampers on my truck and the 4wheel shops in Vegas all recommend the 10 ply over the 6 ply anyday on the SDs.
it's my understanding that the 6 vs 10 ply is an issue on the heavier PSD's. if you have the gas engine, the 6 ply sould be fine for you (more is always better, but above 39.5" tires, i do not believe that a 10 ply is being made yet).
I think the 6ply problem is an issue with the SD in general (V10 or PSD). I know a few guys who have had problems with hawgs and swampers seperating on them with the V10 SDs. Another factor, atleast in Vegas with the 6plys, is the temp. of the summer streets. My recommendation to you, get the 10plys.
ah... heat may be a factor that we in sunny so cal have not so much to worry about..... rarely gets above 85 or below 55 here.... and those are pretty much the extremes! (ok ok... once and a blue moon we see a little more or less.... but we are talking a handful of times a year).
anyways... i agree with chad... take the 10 plys any day over teh 6 plys.... i was just saying that the 6 plys are all that can be had in teh larger tires if you are looking that way..... and the v10 will be a whole lot less abusive on these tires due to the huge weight difference for the PSD.
so... if you go 39.5 or less... stick with what chad says and get teh 10 ply.... way worth the extra tax!
