Auxillary battery

I have a 2003 E-450 Econoline van that is a cutaway version. I had a custom box built for the chassis. I need to install a aux battery to run interior lights and start my geneartor. It will be located in concealed area under steps leading up into the box, so it will be a few feet away from the alternator. My question is, up front under the hood next to a black box that contains fuses and such is another covered box that has electrical connectors labeled, "alt and (+)". Is this where I can hook up my wiring for the isolator and run to the secondary battery? I am having trouble finding a good resource manual such as Chiltons or ? to help me. It seems the only books I can find are for vans a few years old. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike

visit an RV dealer - they sell dual battery adapters. JCWhitney has 'em too.
