I AM NEW TO THE V-10 WORLD. JUST BOUGHT A USED 2001 4WHEEL DRIVE WITH 62000 MILES. I FOUND THIS SITE 2 MONTHS AGO AND IT HELPED ME MAKE THE DECISION TO GO WITH THE V-10. I HAVE ALREADY ADDED SOME 10' RIMS WITH 305\75R16's AND FRIDAY A FLOW MASTER 40 WITH DUELS OUT THE BACK. BOY DOES IT SOUND GOOOOOOOOOD.MY QUESTION IS ABOUT THE TIRE SCRUB ON THE FRONT END. I WANT TO PICK THE FRONT UP BUT NOT STIFFIN THE RIDE AT THE MOST ECONOMICAL PRICE(IF ALL THAT IS POSSIBLE)I WILL APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH THIS.
I have a Fabtech 3 1/2" leveling kit on my 2004 F250. Uses stock suspension/springs and maintains the same ride quality. Only parts are longer front end hangers and you can upgrade your shocks if you like. A rear block can be added to make your ride look right.
You have 305/75/16 or 305/70/16 tires? haven't seen the first, but the latter size should be about 33" tall and will clear with the longer front hangers.
If you have 10" rims, you should have 4 1/2" back spacing that will offset the rims and limit the scrub/rubbing.
The kit for my truck cost about $500 + install. Let me know if I can be of any help.
Thanks for the replies. Sorry about the all CAPS. The tires were the 305/70r16's. This board has been a tremendous help to me .
The only time my front tires scrub is in a sharp turn when hitting a bump. Thanks

Nice Monsta, I'm gonna start sending some flames to your little Ex forum
It may be time for some of us in the SD forum to pay the Ex forum a little visit, maybe liven the place up a bit.
A lift or leveling kit will not affect tire scrub, if you meant scrub as in the racing term. If you meant rub, then yes it will lessen any rubbing you may have.
I don't run a leveling kit, but from what I have read, any add a leaf system will harshen your ride.
Best bet is to go with some sort of hanger kit, you will retain your stock spring rate and ride.
Some to choose from Super Lift, Edge, Skyjacker, Fabtech, etc, all the good manufactures have them.
this link seems to be a good value. Sorry for not an exact page for your truck, but if i were going to get a leveling kit (aside from replacing the front springs) this is what i would get http://www.jackit.com/store/cat.cgi?s=fd422
granted, it is basiacly an add-a-leaf kit.

I dont know if there still out there but I bought a 2" inch leveling kit off ebay for $69.99. It is just addnl leafs w/pins and the parts were brand new from superlift (it was either a dealer or superlift selling them and they had a bunch). There are also 3" and 5" lift kits (front only) on ebay for $179/199 that are just new hangers, they are much cheaper than the name brands.

I think they're Rough Country. Superlift does sell add-a-leaves for around $110.
Farmer250,
Ford will sell a set of X springs (factory) for about $155 each.
I don't have either, still under warranty. Only 6,000 more miles to go.

rshober ------------ Is the optional snow plow package the X springs ? --- it's only a $70 charge and comes with steering dampner also -- I was thinking about this for my new truck order - I suspect that it would raise the front end some - but will it produce a stiff ride or be totally crazy over speed bumps ? [you know what I mean] - Thanks for your help - Anybody feel free to chime in - BaadFowd

Yes they are and after reading about the X springs, I would definately get the plow package on a new truck.
