How long since you have removed your soupbowl?? miles or months??D.S. tech support team tells me that the i.d.i.'s always needed more air & they did that to one of the company trucks awhile back..
Removed it a couple of years ago.Didnt see much extra mpg maybe 1 or 2 but could feel the diff in the pedal.
TNT.The reason i asked if it was a van is the vans have the restriction in the lower part of the air cleaner, the hole where it sits on the intake is smaller than the F-series,so on a van this is what needs to be opened up.
Mine came off 2mos. back & immediatley I gained mileage & power but I was drawing from under the hood(engine compartment & my mech went uptight until i replced the snorkel).(He doesn't kno I removed bowl)This factory intake nozzle breathes from just under the hood on drivers side with a (vacuum cleaner ) type nozzle at a 45deg. to the rad support breathing right over the left battery(pain in the butt when lookin at battery.)
I.m lookin at mods similiar to buddys with a furnace duct & 4"flex hose feeding fron straight in the grille. This snorkel dimishes the running & mileage in 1 tank. I can tell that it ain't the same as the open flex but less apt to draw contamination to the the breather.
These 7.3i.d.i.'s are sensitive "Hearts" i see.
