Hate: What a strong word

I see the word "hate" on this forum quit often.
It is quit a powerful word. Do you guys truely "hate" or do you use the term lightly?
Just wondering.

if i come off the wrong way that might be because im irritated from the redneck thread and the confederate flag thread and i apologize.

but yes, there are some things that i hate.

so what if its a powerful word, thats whats wrong with the world today, no one wants to toughen up and hear things the way they actually are. damn political correctness and anti negativity

and no im not saying its good to be negative, at school teachers arent alllowed to tell our parents that we're "lazy or dont make an effort" they have to say something like "not performing to the best of our potentials and abilities"

Ooh! Ooh! I just hate that word "hate" - why can't we all just get along? Actually, whatever it is that we're usually trying to describe with that word is a pretty strong emotion that keeps our testosterone stirred up and our minds alert, and prevents us from sliding down into the mud pit of complacency.

Rebel, I agree with you on the political correctness. I agree you should be able to fly a flag and pose as a redneck if you choose.

I asked about hatred. Purhaps I worded my question wrong. What I really want to know is do all of you truly have as much hatred in your heart as you display on this sight.

I use the word very carefully. There are many things I dislike. There are many things I feel very strongly about. There are very few things I truly hate. Just wondering were you stand.

I agree 110%. There are very few things in life that I truly hate.

I was raised to believe that hatred is very powerful, and not to be bandied about lightly.

IMHO, there's a huge difference between a strong dislike of something and hating something.

I suspect that most people don't make this distinction though.

HATE?? I don't have time for it. those who choose to truly hate will be consumed by that HATE and have little time to focus on anything else and lose track of reality

Hate takes effort. Nothing and no one I dislike deserves that kind of effort.

Great thread!

Hate is very strong. And to comment on Rebel's response on how teachers cannot say student's are lazy or don't make an effort, well, all I can say is that is true. The reason that most teachers don't say that isnt because I am not supposed to. It is because they want the students to do well and discouraging them. Calling students lazy is only going to make the students hate the teacher.

I agree with Rebel's views on being a redneck. It's something you identify yourself with. It's not a bad thing, its not a good thing. Its just something that is.

When, and if I use the "H" word, I can only hope that it's clear whether or not I'm using it lightly, by considering the context in which it's used.

I suspect that I use it quite lightly most of the time. I've never really bought into the idea that the word "hate" is too "powerful" of a word.

Isn't love all you need?

As the young and impressionable soul that I am, I like to get a taste of everything before I declare a dislike for it. There are some things where I would take the word of my peer over my own personal experience though, like getting kicked in the jaw, thats never happened to me, but I don't think I would like it, or in other words, I would hate to be kicked in the jaw, because I have more than a strong dislike for it. And yet, I have no idea how it truly feels!

Haulingboat, you have got to be kidding me. What's wrong with the word? Too politically incorrect? You haven't turned soccer mom, have you? Too many spineless, lilly livered people in this country get all upset over nothing. Get over it. I know I'll hate myself for this post. HA!
