Question has anyone tried this

I heard someone on here once saying that it would help to disconnect the coolant line from the throttle body. I think they said it would make the air coming in cooler if it was removed. Is the something you only need to warm cold air in cold climates, because I live in central Texas, it doesn't get below 20 here. I have a 1990 302EFI in a Bronco. Has anyone done this before or know of any bad effects from removing it. Thanks for the help.

your right, it helps heat incoming air in cold weather and removing does offer a small gain in performance- just like a cold air kit, but this one is free! although i have not done this myself, i belive that there is two coolent lines running to the throttle body and that you disconnect these and run them together, make sure the not in the way of anything, and thats it, but i hope that someone will check my word, case like i said, i've never done this myself.

I've done the TB Bypass on my daily driver *cough* Firebird *cough*. Supposedly it's about a 3-5 HP gain....not really something you're going to feel at the pedals. But in the scheme of things, every little bit helps, right? Second off, the only thing the throttle body mod may do in the winter is cause a slightly rough idle or sticky butterflies (plates in throttle body) in the morning when the car is stone cold, which is probably the most extreme case if you don't re-route the coolant during the cold months

I'd check with a Ford mech. My intake gets hot enough to take the prints off your finger.

Removed mine long ago. Did not bypass or link them together, just plugged and removed. Used a short length of fuel line with a piece of aluminum rod shoved in it with a hose clamp. One at the intake and one at the radiator. Got rid of all the plumbing. Works fine, but you are not going to feel it in the seat of your pants.
I live in Connecticut, where it has been running in the low teens for weeks now. Never had a problem without the heat to the TB.

Goes back to the old carb and manifold days when we used to plug up the water passages in the intake. By it's own you will not hardly notice anything but with other mods they will add up.
