Lawful Commerce

Hopefully, most of you are aware of the frivolous lawsuits aimed at the gun industry. Already, 33 or more cities, counties and states have filed them, with the purpose of bankrupting the manufacturers and distributors of firearms through legal expenses. It's a win-win situation for the anti-gunners. Even though judges are throwing these cases out as they come up, a couple of companies have already bitten the dust (but not broken any law). So far, 33 states have passed laws forbidding this legal trash, and more are in the works.

Congress also has a bill, the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act", that's passed the house (overwhelmingly) and is supposed to come before the senate in a couple of weeks. Senators like Clinton and Kennedy are trying to keep it off the floor. And, the Brady Campaign is taking out full-page ads full of outrageous lies.

Those among us who believe in the Second Amendment, and things like truth, need to contact our senators and tell them we want this bill, we want it to pass, and we want it now.

Try http://thomas.loc.gov

Once there, look for HR 1036 and S 659 in the 108th congress. It's quite a site, and I get lost there frequently. Will round up some more references in a bit.

For some reason, when I copy a site address, whenever I click on it to check, I get another page of FTE - will have to work on the details. In the meantime, look at nraila.org. Once there, do a search on "lawful commerce". A good one to start with is testimony by Lawrence G. Keane, and there are plenty of others.

I seem to be having a discussion with me. Here's another subject: Senators Feinstein and Lautenberg, and Rep McCarthy are trying to "extend" the ban on semi-automatic guns passed by Clinton. In actuality, their law would 1) outlaw millions of additional firearms, including every semi-automatic shotgun in America; 2) begin a national gun registration; and 3) set the stage for federal gun bans against any and every firearm in existence.

Anybody?

I am not againtm some form of Gun Control. Personally I think two hands on a S&W 9MM with a lasar sight are the best.
Jmaes Brady and his wife are misguided. They should be supporting CRIME control. Lock up criminals and streamline the steps to the death house to that penalty is carried out in a swift and sure manner will do more to stop the illegal use of a gun in a crime then anything else.

TLD,

I really don't know if the death penalty being carried out as you say would deter the use of gun in a crime, but it most certainly would lower the number of repeat offenders!
