I musta missed that argument...but I agree that airing down is better over a little bit of clearance.

man just when i think my new 35" tires are going to be fun. now i want 44s too!!! i have to agree, airing down would still be a better bet, but i can see the other side to. i think it's just one of those trial an error things based on what you are doing, the equipment you have, and the terrain you are going over.

Yea, well, don't be too envious of guys and their 44's. You gotta put mucho money into your drivetrain and engine to make 44's work...otherwise you don't have the cojones to motivate them right or your just snapping stuff. I see far more posers on 44's then guys who are really set up to run them. I'd rather see you guys on 35's that matches their drivetrain having fun on the trail then some ignoramus blocking the way on new 44s wondering why ther stub shaft on his dana 44 cut loose...

No, its a good point Fishy. And it really can cause clearance problems if whoever is airing down also has small tires, since they don't have that much clearance to begin with. 'Course my idea of what a"small" tire is compared to somebody elses might be a bit skewed...

Hmm, I always thought that airing down would increase carcass flex and help the tire shed better. I even read that on Interco's web site.

This might sound like a stupid question (because it is) but what the heck is a bead lock?

its where you have a two outer rings, and an inner rim, the inner rim sits inside the tire, and the rings on the outside, then you blot the rings THROUGH the tire onto the innner rim.

if that made no sense, just search it on the net.

Where do you get something like that done anyway??

I understand exactly what your talking about, I just can't imagine who would perform this task.

You keep more air in the front because there is more weight over it, therefore more of a chance to blow a bead and need for increased pressure to maintain the seat.

Beadlocks using a retaining ring to bolt the rubber onto the wheel, so you can run low pressures without the tire leaving the wheel. In essence, in locks the bead of the tire onto the wheel.

you just buy them, then you yourself bolt them to the tire, and forget about balancing the tire. they are illegal on the road anyway. this way you can air down however far you want and never lose the bead
