This is kind of a Local question but I hope there is someone from Atlanta on this board.

Does anyone know of a good machine shop the Atlanta Area?

I have a 75 F-250 with a 390 that is need.

 

I'm not from the area, but you might ask local mechanic shops or parts stores where they would recommend. And when you get to a machinist, ask for references - customers that you could talk to. Also ask if they are familar/experienced with the FE engines (352, 360, 390, 428).

You might want to surf the FE forum, lots of info about rebuilds - which cam, pistons, oiling mods, ect.

Russel Machine Shop in Hampton, GA is a good one. Lot of experience with Fords and a lot of ASE certified techs. Highway 19/41 South to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Turn left at the light on Woolsey. At the intersection, Wendy's will be on the left and Richard Petty Blvd will be on the right. Anyway, turn left. Russels will be on the left a couple hundred yards up the road, right past the shopping center on the left.

I'd have to recommend the machine shop here in Rome that rebuilt my 460. Decked, aligned, balanced, strobed, prodded, cleaned, bored and blueprinted..... AND they honed my I-beams for me. If Rome isn't too far for you, let me know...

 

I live in Woodstock so Rome is not that far if they do good work.

Well...the engine is now 2 1/2 years old and still as quiet as a mouse and the steering is like a brand new truck (and that's saying a LOT for a '74 F-100!!).

They seem to know what they are doing - let me look for the telephone number tomorrow morning and I'll send it to 'ya....

I'll be having them reworking my differential housing later this year (new axle bearing end...) by the same people.
