Just waiting for my new cam to arrive, started checking, cleaning, and painting the parts laying on my garage floor...The vacuum advance is shot so I ordered a crane adjustable....Has anyone played with this kit...I can adjust the diaphram by trial and error, but which spring do I use on the fly weights ? How early do these motors like full advance?

With the vacuum advance being toast, I could easily run 15-18 degrees initial without ping...seems to me I could use a little more aggressive curve.....D44HD

You more than likely could use a more agressive curve. What does your cam say? 18L, 15L, 13L etc...

10L on one side 15L on the other...15L is the one hooked into the tab

You have a great setup there. The 15L will give you 30 degrees of mechanical advance and the 10L will give you 20. I would stay at the 15 like you are and run light springs. The 13L seems to be the hot ticket but I only run a 21 degree advance on my MSD. It is right where its not hard to start but still advances far enough. My initial is set at 18BTDC and my total timing is 39BTDC. I still need to throw in the lighter springs.

Hey d44, don't know if you've ever seen this, but check out www.bob2000.com, go to his gizmo page, then click on timing Ford dist. I don't know how to post a link to it. Also some neat pictures of Pismo Beach, I used to play in the sand there back in the 70's . Hope this helps, Al
