miles between filter change?

I have an 03 f150 4.2. it has 8K on it. I just pulled the air filter and was blown away by how dirty it was. I have not been off road but we did have the bad fires here (san diego) about 3 months ago. How many miles are you getting on air filters?

I usually replace them every 25 - 30,000 miles...but I am currently running a K&N replacement filter, which is reusable. You can get the cleaning kits for them for about 10 bucks. I saw no real performance increase...but to me the advantage is for situations like yours. when you have extreme exposure to dust, or polution...or whatever the case may be you can clean it at will. Its just under 50 dollars, compared to 20 dollar motorcraft filter, which is one time use.

3 miles? Jeez Joe, you musta bought some crazy amounts of stock in the K&N recharger kits! LoL

I go about every 10 or so and recharge my volant, even though I use K&N kits. My cool blue filter is now ugly red :*(
