ticking noise

I have a 98 F150 and a couple weeks ago I broke my lower intake manifold gasket. And i first noticed it when the engine kicked back and I got it started and it started making a ticking noise. I got the gasket fixed but the ticking noise still went on. Brought it back to the mechanic and he replaced all the lifters and pushrods, and a few of the rockers that were worn. But it stick ticks. I put some oil treatment in it and the ticking noise went away. Anyone have any ideas what could be making that noise.

Thanks
Matt

If you say it "kicked" back you might have slightly bent a rod and messed up a bearing. Oil treatment is very thick and some used car dealers use it alot to cover up engine noises.

The place i brought it too did a test where they pull of the the plug wire which takes the load off of that cylinder. They did it to all of them and the noise never stopped. They said that mostly rules out a bent rod or bad bearing.

my 1996 3.8 windstar did that. Three weeks later the connecting rod shattered and took out the cylinder wall. It's costing me $2000 to fix.
