Timing problems... ugh
Ive got a 429 with d2ve aa heads, mallory vacume advance distriburator, edelbrok performer rpm intake, cam, and carb in my 56 f100.
Anywho I just get this stuff timed right with the vac hooked up. I set it withought the vac.. then hook it up and the engine runs like hell... then dies... If I back it off from that It will Idle just fine, but then when I give it gas... It pings, stutters, then backfires. And it still will run just fine withought the vacume.
All my problems occured last week when I figured out my vacume module in the 5 years I've had the truck has not worked. So I put the new one on and everything goes to ... a bad place.
Any thoughts?

a... put the advace on the ported vacume thing instead of the direct ont
b... adjust the module with a allen wrech so it would give less advance.
