Friction Modifyer

I have a 1991 f-150 with a M50D with 243,000 miles . A freind of mine told me about a Friction Modifyer that I can add to the tranny to help it run better and a little quieter. Does anyone know if this will work on this Mazda Tranny that takes Atf fluid or is the Modifyer made for Gear oil tranny's? I just dont want to cause any headaches

Mercon ATF already has friction modifer in it. Too much will cause gear grinding or hard shifting because the syncros wont "hook up" as well. If anything, a switch to type F with no friction modifier can help shifting on a worn manual trans that uses ATF.

If you are looking for something a little thicker to try and quiet it, look at Redline MTL.
