Movie - Open Range

Watched OPEN RANGE twice last night - really enjoyed it. Great gunfight, they actually reloaded their guns, took their rifles out of the boots, missed with most shots. Robert Duvall is great and Kevin K does a good job. If you like westerns, give it a look.

We went to see it also, a real good movie indeed. I just like about anything Duvall or Costner is in. What is it about western movie violence, that it doesnt seem too brutal ? We watched Cold Mountain and the violence in that one was hard to stomach, I dunno

That answered a question for me. I commented to my wife about the beauty of the country and wondered where it was.
I rented the video.

Save your money. It's a complete ripoff of a lesser known movie called "Donnie Darko" Rent that instead, it's a 100 times better.

It has a good story line, but a LOT of people getting lead holes inserted in to them, which some ladies cant watch or may find too graphic. To me its just good ole'western style killin's, something that was a way of life back then I suppose, he who shot good lived the longest.

Best western ever- "Open Range"

Well I saw the posts you guys did on it and everyone seemed to like it.

The last movie that I ran accross that had the same strong response on a message board was "The Matrix" years ago, and I loved that.

So when I stumbled into th "Open Range" DVD at Walmart (were I do most of my best shopping ), I threw it into the cart.

I'm very happy with my purchase- I've probably watched every western made in color and it is my new favorite.

The gunfight was outrageous and probably more realistic than any portrayed to date.

Thanks for the tip.

BTW- would have found the old thread and replyed but the server is too busy to do a search.

I also watched Open Range the other night. Very, very good movie. The gun fight was the most realistic out of all the westerns I've seen. I also like how the gun shots sounded a lot better than other westerns. 3 thumbs up!!
