Since no one else has answered, I think the 390 GT is just a plain-jane 390 with 4bbl carb and higher compression, like 10.5:1 - there is nothing special to the heads or block, nothing more than your standard 390.
One of those "not on 87 octane" motors. If you are going to rebuild the 390GT motor, then there is nothing in there that isn't already in your existing 390 - the only reason to buy it would be to get 4bbl intake, or if your existing block /heads/crank/rods can't be rebuilt. Or, you're crazy enough to reuse the pistons. So, for the $300 you'd pay for it, you're just getting a heavy intake, an Edelbrock will probably cost that much. If it's fresh and runnable the way it is, it's quite a good deal.
The 390GT didn't have bigger exhaust valves than any other FE, the 428CJ is the only one with bigger exhaust valves. It's a worthwhile upgrade, as mentioned by Ratsmoker.

This is basicly what you would get with a 4 berrel and performer cam. you don't need the intake from edelbrock it is pretty much the same as stock, just madout of aluminium.

This the setup I went with. the heads are expensive but you get what you pay for.

Hey guys one more question if i were to be looking for a new set of stock heads, what casting number should i look for is aby one kind a little better than the other.

There are C8AE (or is it C7?) and D2TE heads... the D2's have hardened exhaust valve seats for unleaded gas. The C8's need the exhaust valve seats replaced.
There are earlier castings but not necessary for performance or longevity.
The C8 and D2 heads are identical in all other aspects. The only upgrade to do to the heads would be to put 428CJ exhaust valves in it, but not necessary.
One other thing, if you are looking to salvage a set of heads out of the bone yard, try unbolting the top exhaust bolts. If you break them off there, you don't own them I managed to pull a nice set of D2's a month back and all the bolts came out nicely...

Those high-mileage motors with leaky valve-covers nicely heat-cycle and lubricate those top bolts for you, in advance !
I'm running the D2 heads with stock size valves, just bowl hogged and they work great. I bought the whole motor from U-pullit with D2's, the later reinforced truck block and a standard 390 crank for $125. I bet the motor didn't have 20K on a rebuild. Already had heads drilled for bronze guides and oil mods done to it. Saved me some money when I brought it to the machine shop
