1990 e4od would nt go into 3rd

I had hooked on to my 26f fifth wheel the day before .When I pulled a way it was sluggish and when she was given the pedal it would'nt go into to 3d it went like this for 10 miles or better {I would not normally have drove it like this but we had a emergency doctor appointment and had to }When we got back in and after a wee bit 3rd came to life !!? I have'nt had a whole lot of time or miles in this 90 f350 7.3l e4od puller and have none what so ever history on her but my last e4od was'nt all that good what do you all think ? HELP S.L.

I just had a 93 F250 do that after a fresh rebuild. The trans shop ended up replaceing the solenoid pack, after I replaced the TPS and Neutral Safety Switch.
