I have a 1994 Ford E150 conversion van with a 5.0 and automatic overdrive transmission.
I would like to add a tach. or possibly all of the gauges from an 8cyl Ford instrument cluster from another Ford with the necessary gauges, and install them within the instrument cluster area in my van. (hope this makes sense)
My question is if anyone has done any mods to the instrument cluster in any similar ford products or knows of any websites to look into ??
Actually the only other gauge will be the tach as mine now has a total of 4 plus the speedo so I'm hoping I might be able to do this mod. with minor mods to the wiring harness.

Actually, most harnesses from the factory are wired for ALLL AVAILABLE OPTIONS from the factory.
Doesn't make sense to make a bajillion different harnesses for the major-league costs involved!
I have never actually done a instrument cluster swap like yours. Knowing the wiring involved though, and since you already have guages, I could see the cluster already having power, ground, and lighting for the tach. Does it have the required wire for the signal from the ignition? I don't know. Maybe it's possibly an add on harness like Dennis said.
And from all the posts on here about people wanting to add electric windows, mirrors, heated mirrors, door locks, etc., (and wondering why they won't just plug in), I think I can safely say a truck is not wired for every option from the factory.
Charlez,
This does look like the article I need to do my mod, do you have any idea if the clusters are the same physical size ? thanks to everyone that offered advise, and if I have any problems, "I'll be back".
I'm still trying to find out if the 92/96 Econoline van had a tach available, and my local wrecker didn't know if the F-150 cluster would interchange, I'm going to contact my local Ford dealer tomorrow for their opinion .
