Question Hot...Then Cool Temperature

The heater in my truck ('97 F150; 4.6L; 93K miles) will go from blowing hot air to cool air without touching the temperature ****.

If I turn the control **** to "OFF" for a minute or two and then back to "Panel/Floor"or "Floor" the temperature goes back to being hot again.

The needle is 1/4 inch above the bottom line of the temperature gauge and remains there no matter what temperature is coming from the vents.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this?

TIA...

The system is topped off with coolant?

I found this bit of info posted by user vaders,

"The newer f150s don't have a valve in the heater hose to control the heat. Heat is controlled by an air damper in the heater box. The damper is controlled by a small servo motor unit on the bottom of the box and the position of the servo is controlled by the variable resistor connected to the temperature control **** on the dash. If you don't have heat, check the servo motor first. It's easy to get to and easy to replace."

This is a new one to me. Hopefully we'll get you fixed up.

Yes, the collant level is topped off and as soon as it stops snowing I will look for/check/replace the servo motor...

Thanks for the reply...

put a cold front on your truck, it could be something as simple as a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator and behind the grill ,bob
