i was reading the other post about pushrods being to long and it got me thinking about mine, i have crane 941 cam, and i was wondering if the stock pushrods and stock rockers are going to work, if not i guess ill be ordering some adjustable rockers.
FM428, pushrods being too long is usually a problem created by milling the heads a bunch ( .040 or more ) or by forgetting to install the oil drip shields under the rockerstands. The '941 cam should have no problem fitting with the stock pushrods. It is also possible to put shims under the rockerstands, to bring the rocker assembly farther awy from the head. Installed height on the valvestems makes a differance as well. Try the stockers first, and if they aren't fitting correctly, we'll help you figure out if you need longer or shorter. DF
the heads have been milled .10, but i dont think that would effect it enough, i guess ill know by this comeing up week when it should be running. if all goes well. thanks
Your stock pushrods should work. I had a cam in my truck that had .533" lift and went to a cam that had .560 lift and burned it up. BUt I also changed pushrods, I bought stock lenght, but come to fine out ford made 4 different length pushrods for a ford 390, I ended up with the longest of the four. When I set the cam up the second time i used this pushrods to measure my pre-load and found out I had .080" which is way to much. It should be between .020-.040. I had some custom made which was alot cheaper than buying a set of adjustable rockers. The bad thing was that the truck ran fine had no problems just after about 60 miles it went to knocking which was a lifter knock and that is when I found out the bad news on my cam. But should have it back together this week!!!
