Slave Cylinder leaking

My 1995 F150 with the 4.9 and M50D is leaking fluid from the slave cylinder. How hard is it to replace the slave cylinder? I am also going to replace the clutch at the same time. How hard is it to remove the hydraulic line that goes into the slave cylinder? Is there any special tools need to replace the slave cylinder? I have replace a clutch before so i should be good on that part. Any help is welcomed, Thanks Fred

NAPA has a tool (about $15) that makes releasing the hydraulic line a lot easier (at least on my 88 with internal slave).

Without the tool, you can just use 2 screw drivers, or a piece of sheet metal bent in a circle around the quick connector. As you know it is the internal slave cyl. Once the tranny is off, it is just 2 bolts to pull the slave. Make SURE THE O ring is put in. Good luck.

Ok, guys I got the clutch hydraulic line out tonight after I made my own removal tool. I made it from a washer, that I cut a piece out of. And I finished it off with a screw driver. I had to pull on the tube quite hard to get it out. My dad and I got the transmission, clutch and flywheel out. Getting the new parts tomorrow and start putting it back together.

Question 10 or 11 inch

Is it a 10 or 11 inch clutch disc??

The flywheel should be drilled for both..Install an 11 if it is now equipped with the smaller one!!

I have the 11 inch clutch and I put a 11 back in. I got the clutch and everything back in there tonight. I got the tranmission back in tonight, I've only been working on it for 2 or 3 hours each night, but should have it done tomorrow morning. Thanks Everyone

Hello guys and gals,

I am also having a problem with my slave cylinder on my 2002 Ford Ranger FX4 and I'm wondering if any one here has a opininon on the repair.

I'm planing on having the slave repalced as well as the through out bearing and cluch since I'm at 100 000 kms. Is that the right thing to do and am I better to use after market parts of ford stuff.(i'm not sure if the extra money is for the oe parts actually makes a difference)
