New guy here!
Can you explain what x-plan is? I've clicked on the x-plan link when I saw it in a post. It just brougth me to a Quick Quote site. Reading the posts, it sounds like x-plan ia some kind of formula to set a price. Any info would be appreciated. I am planing on ordering a truck within the next 3 weeks.
Thanks,
Sid
X-Plan is for employees of companies that either do a lot of business with Ford, or supply them with parts or materiel. The price works out very close to invoice, and is NOT compatible with certain private offers. For instance, it can't be used with the AQHA rebate. It is great if you live in an area where pricing is high and all dealers want to spend hours haggling. But you do have to qualify for it, by working for a "partner" company.
I'm trying to come up with a $$ amount to bring to the dealer, before incentives.
The invoice is $37,952 at FordDirect.com. Looks like there is a $1500 incentive. I'm going in with cash, so I don't have to deal with the lienance officer. I'm looking for a no BS, no hastle deal.
Any ideas in what a dealer would go for.

The dealer we went to is sells all of their vehicles for a couple hundred over invoice. With the incentives we ended up a couple thousand under. I don't know if that was a good deal, but it was less than I had planned on spending originally.
I can only tell you the way we do it at our dealership. Everything (except Lightning and Cobra) is sold for $200 below invoice (or $200 below X-Plan if you qualify). You should be able to use that as a reference and get close to it.
I think just as important as the price is HOW you get the price. Each dealer should have to stand on their own in order to show you what kind of business-person they are. I'd walk into each showroom with a list of what I wanted, and then ask them to give you their best price. I would NOT say, "I was just down the road at Bob Smith Ford and they'll sell it to me for this. Can you beat it?" OF COURSE they can! If they sell it to you for $1 less, then they beat their price, right? You'll spend the rest of your life getting the best deal in the world, one dollar at a time. Your time and nerves have to be worth something. A dealer that runs you around in circles, asking when you're going to buy, what prices have you already gotten, shop all the other dealers first and then we'll beat that, blah-blah-blah....vs. someone that just gives you their best price upfront, no BS, takes you seriously, let's you buy at your own pace: who would you rather deal with? And don't you think the attitude you experience in the showroom will also be reflected throughout the rest of the dealership? Price is important, but in this business, the QUALITY of the dealer is worth just as much. Now, I'm not saying for a second that you should pay $1,000 more to buy from a nice guy. But if you're looking at a $30-40,000 truck, isn't it worth $100 more to buy from "Nordstrom" than "K-Mart?"
First of all, there should NEVER be a charge for dealer prep or filling the tank- Ford takes care of those. Here in NY, we're limited to a max of $20 for documentation fees, and I wouldn't pay more than that anywhere, despite what the dealer says, unless they can prove that their state is charging some exhorbitant fee for a title. Delivery and destination goes to the carrier, which is why it's never discounted ($795 retail/ $795 invoice). Will a dealer negotiate the remaining two- FDAF and fuel charge? Maybe- but I'll be willing to bet good money they'll figure out a way to get those from you. Keep it simple: if you don't qualify for X-Plan, start with the number that appears in the "invoice total" box of the factory invoice and work from there.

So this is the same thing as the 'partner' pricing, as posted on www.fordpartner.com ??
