not getting fuel to engine
I have recently purchased a 1971 longbed truck for three hundred dollars i can't get any fuel the engine which is a 302 any suggestions already checked fuel pump. I know it might be the fuel filters but is it possibly a problem with the fuel pickup.

Have you established that the mechanical fuel pump is working?
Like, you hooked it to an outside fuel source and it pumped fuel?
But yes, the other things you mention can be problems as well.
If the tank is original, the pickup could be plugged up with crud from the old tank.

Yeah, It would be pretty much like f100guy says.
Its pretty time consuming trying to clean one out completely, the tank could be rusting from the inside.
You would just have to remove it and evaluate the situation when you can see inside the tank.

Stick a hose from the fuel pump into a gas can with gas in it and see if it will pump that up to the carb.
The hose from the tank to the frame could be dry rotted and allowing air to be sucked into the line instead of fuel.
