I have a 1996 F-350 with a powerstroke diesel and an automatic transmission. There is a drain plug on the torque converter and I plan to drain it. I need to know how much fluid I need to buy to put back in it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
For a full pan and Torque converter change you are going to need a lot of fluid. While you are at it drain the cooler too.
From what I recall, the E4OD, which is what I think you have takes something like 15 quarts of fluid. If you have a manual double check that. I assume the diesel and gas versions use the same amount of fluid, I don't know for sure.
In any case you will need a lot. Be sure to change the filter while you are in there.
