Anyone got a old guitar or guitars you would like to go to a good home ? i would pay shipping and a small price to compensate you, see i teach guitar to the neighborhood kids for free, i got 5 i am teaching now and only one of them has a guitar. there parents cant afford to buy them one to practice on at home , and although i have tried to find a few with ebay i cant spend all that much so i let them play mine when they are here learning but kinda hard teaching by passing it around, so if anybody has any old guitar that is just sitting around and wouldnt mind getting rid of it get ahold of me. I cant promise you a tax deduction or anything, but it would make a few kids happy. it rally doesnt matter if it is a full size or 3/4 size, but any smaller wouldnt really suit them, and it doesnt matter if they are accoustic or electric. it is just something they can take home and practice on. if asking this is against the rules just delete the post and i wont do it again. thanks
Right on brother
I wish I could help you out, but I'm broke myself
glad to hear someone helping kids get into music
believe it or not there are many decent cheap guitars available these days for less than $100, and some even under $50, but I realize even that is beyond the reach of some
good luck, you are doing a good thing
i really hate for them to get a 50 dollar or cheaper guitar, although i would not turn one down at this point. the one the girl has is a 60 dollar guitar and it isnt bad, it tunes well and holds it for awhile too, and the action isnt really all that bad. the harmonics are off just a little but at this point she really doesnt need much else besides what she has. the problem with real cheap guitars such as some of those on ebay for 10 bucks is that they are mainly a toy and not very good for learning on because they dont play well, never seem to stay in tune and none of the frets line up with the notes lol. If i had the means i would buy them all yamaha accoustics or martin acoustics and if electric they would all get fender squire stratacasters, not for me though, i am a GIBSON MAN, Les pauls and 335's or maybe a real nice mellow Guild Tennessen for some blues !
Check with your local pawn shops. A lot of times you can get good deals, and if you speak with the owner, he might be able to point you at some freebies. Also check with the local school music teachers. They sometimes have connections.
I have a guitar I bought a few years ago when I was working away from home and forgot to bring mine along. It works. I can let you have it. Let me know.
YES YES and YES again, the kids will love to have another guitar to practice on. click on my profile and drop me an email and we get whatever arranged we need to get arranged. As for everyone else I will post a picture of the kids with the guitars once we get some more of them, just so you can see they are going to the kids who need them.
this is one of the children you would be helping out, she is very gifted and picking it up as fast as she can. if she had her own she would learn even faster..
these kids are from families that have no extra income for buying guitars, they have hard enough time feeding these kids. which is why i asked for donations, and yes they really want to play and are learning as i meationed in the first few posts of this thread
