Unhappy 429 Oval Blues

A buddy just gave me a 429 (actually I traded him a roll of paper towel!!!), now I have no idea on the details of the engine as of yet but these are my ideas for its placement...

I'd like to build it up, fuel inject it, stick a C6 behind it and end it all with a low 3's detroit e-locker-for fuel mileage while stuffing it in my 96 F150 ,
What sort of parts should I be investing in. I want to be able to afford to drive it- but still smoking all of the chevy's around is more important than mileage. Any ideas are welcome and desired. +450hp +500lb/ft tourqe is desired.

How many thousands of dollars do you want to spend?

I think you could do it.

You need 460 Motor Mounts, from Advance Adapters, or L&L, they run about $500, headers from L&L $400. I doubt your radiator or the stock fan will keep it cool enough and fit, so a nice dual electric setup and a 4 row aluminum Mustang radiator, thats $600. You also need a toughened up 8.8" or a 9". Thats another $250. You need to get some tougher springs up front, and if you have a 4x4 you will need a 385 series dual sump pan. You could have a C6 built for under $1000. I'm not sure how its gonna fit in there (linkage), try taking a look at a 460 powered F250 to get ideas. I figure you probably know most of this though.

Good Luck

next question would the 429 be the right choice or should I just build a stroker? I drive a 2 wheel drive and want this truck to be a mild drag truck.

I've a;ways had a secret underdeveloped passion for the 429. Something about them three numbers. Plus everyone and their dog has a 460.

Try asking your question over here:

http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/85220

That is a forum frequented by some major gearheads, including Jon Kaase. I know the fuel inject question came up there before. It's not as easy as you might think it is, even though you can bolt 460 EFI on.
