alright guys. ive got a 91 f-150 ext cab 4x2. im wanting to do a 4x4 conversion. what parts can i use? can i only use 4x4 parts out of similar year truck. or can i swap in parts from 70's/80's? any input welcome here.
well its all o how u want to build it my 92 started as a 4x2 and i made it 4x4. i put a ttb dana44 axle in it from a 85 bronco and im going to run a divorecd 205 twin stick.but now i going to go with a stright axle due to the fact that i realy hate my ttb.the straight axle is from a 79 but i have to make it work its not a bolt in thing. but . u can use the ttb from a 80-96 and it will bolt right in. hope this helped if not sorry
that is prolly the most vague question I have ever read. what are you going for? what kind of off-roading you gonna do? do you want a lift? straight axle? ultra flexy? a very custom job or a by-the-manual-job? what's your budegt? you want a tricked out truck or very basic? need more info!
well my uncle had a 75 4x4 that i loved. but is no longer with us .. anyways, ive been talking to a couple different people. and i may have the chance to get some '75 4x4 parts real cheap. i was just wonderin if i can use the dana 44 front axle, np203 transfer case, and driveshaft from the 75 and put it on my 91. i personally dont see why it cant be done but im just checkin, cuz ive obviously never done a 4x4 swap before. also: i was wonderin if i could use the 4speed tranny from it too?? are there tranny adapter kits out there...im wanting to keep my 302 in there, and the 4speed would be fun one more thing...would i have to get the 9" rear axle, or will i be alright with the 8.8 i got now? sorry for all the ?s, they may sound ignorant to a seasoned veteran at this, but any input is welcome.
sorry i was too broad Fish. basically i want the dana44,np203, and 4speed tranny in my truck if possible. i will probably only run 33's and i think i can get by with only 3 in of lift. thanks
EDIT: scrap the auto to manual tranny conversion im probly better off to keep the one i got. im not rich and this will be enough work as it is. so my ? now is will i be alright with my current tranny (E40D). i gotta rebuild the stupid
thing anyway
