Menroid, F750pickup, sluggo36, all other crewcab folks:
Need some information- Does anyone know if the rear bench seat on 73-79 crewcab trucks is unique or identical to the front? Has anyone tried to put in a later model (86-97/99 up SD) bench seat? Will it fit? Need a new rear bench, and wondered if a front bench from a reg cab or a later model would work.
Also, is there any place to get the crewcab rear door panels? I am afraid I know the answer to that question, but mights as well ask. I figure if anyone knows, they are on this forum.
Thanks in advance.
I am interested in a crewcab group also, as mentioned in an earlier topic. I am no computer guru, so am of no help setting one up.
Random thought: Is it just me, or is 4 out of every 5 crewcab 4WD F250s of 73-79 vintage from the Pacific Northwest??? Must have been very popular in that region...
Yes the back seat is the same as the front. You just would have to put your track on. As for crewcab door panels good luck. I wouldn't have any idea if someone makes them.
Afraid I am no help on the door panels either. I know the 70's vintage crew cabs are fairly rare in the S.E. I looked for one for a couple of years before I found the one I have now.
And its a nice one, Menroid. Thanks for the replies.
What about the tracks? I need those at well. Are they the same or are they fixed? Would a reg cab bench bolt in place of the rear seat or are the mounts unique to rear seat crew cabs?
Thanks-
my rear seat interchanges with my front, other than not being able to slid the rear sear forward or backwards they are exactly the same. There are a lot of crews in the junkyards where I grew up as a kid in Wisconsin, rear door panels are around, most are faded and or cracked, but I have seen them. Really what one of us needs to do is make a mold so that between us in our "future club" would be able to reproduce parts for eachother like door panels. I am very good w/fiberglass and have been thinking of trying to make some repros...it wouldn't be to bad of a project to undertake...and it would be so nice to help someone else that needed the rear door panels. I am missing the chrome trip that holds the panel up to the ceiling, does anyone have a lead on those?
I have not been able to find a listing in any catalog for a 1970's crew cab. If anybody knows of one let me know. I need a new floor covering and I would like a rubber floor mat. I have not been able to find one so I have been considering going with a rhino or line-x covering.
Here in the northwest I think we have our fair share. I just saw a '78 F250 crew 4x4 yellow with XLT package. I've not seen this one before. I know of two other people that have '70's style crews. What ever you do keep them going.
I got lucky and the door panels are good in my truck. I think the only difference in the seats is the front seat can not be tilted foreward. Here in the east coast, at least northeastern maryland, you don't see any old crews. I have seen 2 on the road, but they are out of state, and only seen them once. There is one in the junkyard here, but it is rotted to pieces.
hillbillyk,
I actually responded to an ad for a 78 crew F250 4WD in MD last year; it was red and needed some assembly. Don't remember where in MD it was... a custom with 351M IIRC.
Did the junkyard crew have good rear door panels by any chance????
I think I saw that red crew being parted out on ebay. I don't know why you would part out a 4x4 crew with a nice body. The crew in the junkyard it totally trashed, no door panels, and has been in there for over 10 years, they just don't get rid of it because they have never had one before. I used to know a guy with a 4x4 crew, was kinda rough but decent, he was restoring it, but that was in southern pa. I know of another guy with a rusty 2wd crew around here, only ever see it at the car show hauling parts, said he would not take less then 5k for it. old ford's in general are kinda rare in my town. but you see alot more old fords then old chevys.
I have a source for the rubber floor mats for the crew cab. It's where I bought mine. You can check out my old crew (Scud) in my gallery if you would like.
I will also chime in that the seats are interchangeable, but the rear tracks are fixed. Just change out the tracks and you are set.
Oh yeah, I know where some rear door panels are also. e-mail me if you want some more information about that.
I had forgotten about yours crewcab77, you have about the nicest one I've seen around here, I used to know a guy just above the md line with a rusty one, had to replace the entire roof on it, it was real bad on the drip rails.
Wow! Crewcab77, you have one of the coolest vehicles I've ever seen. Your mods are awesome - I'd love to own that truck. That front clip must be off a '78 or '79?
