Will 285 75 r16 tires fit on my f250 without a lift and without rubbing?I want new tires but I going to wait before lifting it(warranty reasons), so I would like bigger wider tires on the stock rims at stock height for now, any suggestions?
I run 295/75/R16 on stock rims with no rubbing. I only have a 1.5 inch leveling kit in front and i have seen several SD's with 285's stock. Its all good. GO for it!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Jun-02 AT 07:17 PM (EST)]I run 285's on my truck, and have no modifications to the suspension. I also have the factory deluxed aluminum wheels. The only problem I had was interference with the Ford hard mud flaps, and that was solved with some minor trimming. I have picks in my gallery if you want to see what they look like on my truck, and I can get some close-ups of the wheel wells if you want too.

Ford has never put 285's on the Superduties. Your dealer might have installed them.
I regularly put 295's on my customer's trucks, and only have had one rub at full lock. 285's are no problem (I run them myself, BFG AT KO's with 68,000 miles plenty of tread left)
My 1999 F 250 came, (used), with 285 75 16 on the Lariat wheels and nothing rubs, clearance at full turn both right and left.
My tire guy did tell me that there were differences in height and width between tires of different brands which show the same size on the side-wall and that the same tire mounted on different width rims can present different heights and widths, (at the wall).

This tool allows you to check tire size options against a size which you know works: http://www.dsm.org/tools/tiresize.htm
FYA for Gary M: the diameter of the tire affects the number of revolutions per mile which if different than the factory presets on the computer will give you an inaccurate speedometer reading. This can be corrected for about $15 at a speedometer shop. A Hypertech Programmer will do it for you too.
