hey.just bought a 94 350 and i need to put tow hooks on the front so when i get stuck in the mud. I was thinkin bout just drillin holes in the frame and installin them that way. Has anyone tried this or is there any other suggestions. Thank you.
Just please, Oh PLEASE dont weld them on. If you are gonna drill a hole in the frame, then it would be best to weld a sleeve in there and then run the bolt through. Use at least two bolts for each hook.
Stay away from the little chrome or black jeep hooks that you find everywhere. They're strong enough and everything, but they're just too small to get a decent strap on. The retainers are pretty useless, too. I've destroyed 2 good straps with the ones I had.
I ended up getting a pair from a swap meet that were off of a gm truck. Thet're about 10" long with a 5" dia. hook. I'm mounting them vertical like a "J" so the strap hangs from them when it's loose.

these aren't the exact ones but it gives you the basic idea....I have a set on the front of my truck (check my gallery) and they have been abused and have held up impressively!
tow hooks have a bad tendency to bend out b/c it has an open end...i suggest (from experience) get something enclosed!

I like most of Rockstomper's stuff.....except for those tabs. These are an item that deserves to be double welded into a bumper.....not welded only on the front.
