My overboost problem

My overboost problem
Well got my truck back today. My turbo boost was 35-38 which was very high, ford blamed it on my 4" magna flow, almost did'nt pay for my new turbo, also had edge chip which i removed and still had the overboost problem. I'm thinking the edge had somthing to do with my boost problem not the magna flow. sold my edge and purchased the tuner hope i don't have the same problem. ford said they will not buy me any more turbos.

I have a 7-03, truck ran great when first got it. Pulling 28ft 5th wheel up hill blew one side of intercooler off. Didnt throw any codes I think trubo was putting out max boost all the time? Dealer reflashed at time of intercooler fix. Truck has not been same since. Gas mileage and power down, exhaust fumes are really bad. on oct flash now going in to get dec flash next week. Oh yeah now rear seal leaking. What next????

I told this in other post, but here we go again. Since last post here I have blown hose in half comming off the turbo, and have blown the intercooler apart again. This time they replaced my turbo. It was doing same as yours putting out 30-31 lbs of bost, causing the computer to try and shut the motor down[there for my lackof power]. The turbo was toast, I'm stock other than 4inch exhaust.

strange...seems every post i read where people are hitting over 30 psi, they have a 4" exhaust.
not saying thats the cause, just seems strange.....i know, everyone has a best freinds former roomate who did it with a stocker, but what i have seen posted, at least 4-5 times now, is people overboosting ALL have aftermarket exhausts.
i wonder what the rear wheel hp diff is for people with 4" complete exhausts vs. those of us who only removed the muffler.... i am just not willing to take the chance of overboosting to have some extra power/sound right now. not to mention, if it was a cause for unreliability, my wife would castrate me! (we carpool, and it is our only/dailey driver)
good luck guys, if anyone heres why overboost is happening to only some, please post!

Hmm, don't like the sound of this. I was going to order a Banks exhaust very soon. I was however going to install some gauges before I did anything. A boost gauge being one of them of course, to see just exactly where everything was/measured in stock form. Has anyone had a boost gauge prior and post of adding a 4 inch exhaust?

I had all my gauges put in before any mods.My boost at full throttle never goes over 26psi.Before and after the exhaust with same results.

I put the exhaust on to lower my exhaust temp,[since I pull 28.5 5th wheel]. Even the dealer didnt think my exhaust had anything to do with my overboost problem. I think its got something to do with all the reprogramming. How many of you that have had problems with overboost have been updated????

Do you still have the down pipe with the new turbo?

When I took my truck to the ford dealer for fuel milage problems. the mechanic insalled a gage to record the highest turbo pressure. He said mine was normal at 35. I told him I thought this was high. He Said the book tells them to install gage place tranny in second and run it wide open. it should read between 35-38 PSI. I have a boost gage installed now,and I have never seen it go over 24 PSI. Although I have never held it in second and dogged it out. hope this helps Jerry.
