I have a couple of questions for the forum. First, thanks to everyone for helping me resolve my check engine light problem, seems to be the DPFE sensor. Now, my question is, are DPFE sensors for a 1998 and a 1999 ranger interchangeable? I have a '99 automatic, V6 3L fuel flex, 4X4. NAPA carries the DPFE sensor in metal for a '99 and in plastic for the '98. I was wondering if I could use the plastic sensor for the '98 on my '99.
Secondly, I broke my center arm rest a few months ago. My truck has bucket seats with the narrow arm rest in the middle. Ford wants $250 for a new armrest, so I have been searching the net looking for aftermarket armrests -- to no avail. Anyone have suggestions on where I can find an armrest, other than at the Ford dealership?
I'm pretty sure you can go with the '98 DPFE, the engine and engine control systems are identical between the two years. You should note, though, that my original '98 4.0L DPFE is plastic, and that's what they might be offering you...
As far as the broken armrest is concerned, welcome to the club! I haven't found one at a local junkyard yet (about 6 mos. I've been looking), and I also had priced one out at the dealer which of course I rejected as outrageous. So for now, I'm just living with it...
Thanks for the reply. NAPA also had the metal DPFE sensor available for the 1999 model, but I read in one of these forums that the plastic sensor did not deteriorate as quickly as the metal sensor. Any truth to this?
