I ordered a 4X4 Lariat screw on October 31st, 2003. I was told 6-8 weeks delivery time. As of today, no truck. I am being told by my salesman that the truck is being held up due to the 18" wheels and chrome tubular running boards that I ordered on the truck. Does this excuse make sense to any of you guys? I'm supposed to hear from the sales manager tomorrow, so I'll see what he has to say, I guess. Sorry for the rant.
I ordered mine the second week in october. About 4 weeks later, my salesperson called me and said that there was a hold up/delay because of the same issue(Certain parts). They did a deeper search and found out that it was the 18" wheels that they were waiting on. They called me a week later and said that they were back on track with it. I did receive my truck early december. So I am guessing that your sales person can call and find out exactly whats happening and keep you updated if he/she really wants too. Pressure them!!
This seems to be an on going problem sinse the intro. of the new F150.They can't keep up with the demand. You can credit the Japanese just in time parts delivery system for not having enough pieces to go around.
But your truck will come. Then you will be real happy .
Hang in there
I ordered my F-150, Lariat, Supercrew, 4 x 2 on Wednesday evening October 7, 2003. It was delivered to my dealer's lot on Wednesday night November 5, 2003 around 8:30 PM EST.
My truck has the STANDARD Lariat 18" cast aluminum wheels and the black FULL running boards.
NO delays on my truck at all....
I picked it up on Friday, November 7, 2003......EXACTLY 1 MONTH from the day I ordered it
Go figure?!?!?!?!
Hang in there guys.......and look at it this way; You ordered your trucks shortly after I ordered mine. And now mine has over 6,000 miles on it.....and for those of you who got your trucks after I did, your mileage is probably a whole lot less!!
And for those of you who still don't have your trucks.....when you finally do get them, yours will be brand spanking new.....when ours will have thousands and thousands of miles on them, worn tires, stone knicks in our front ends, acid rain spots on our paint, etc., etc.
Out of TOTAL F-150 production, a max of 30% can be SuperCrews right now. Of that 30%, they can build a max 11% of them with 2-tone, max 4% with running boards, and a max 4% with 18" rims. I think what's happening is they're trying to schedule your truck, but each time ONE of these items may not be available, postponing your vehicle. You'll just have to be patient; they'll eventually build it.
