I am parting out this Tbird. I list it on ebay as such. people email me and tell me they need 'xxxx' part, they need it quick. Can I send it to them while they send the $$? I do, thinking I am helping someone out. It has been 9 days. I have shipped about $510.00 in parts and shipping prepaid from my accounts at Airborne/DHL and UPS. I have seen not one dime. Obviously, I am gullible and fall for the hard luck stories but what the heck, is every person out there really just a breathing POS? How can this many people be just absolute scum? I am talking 27 people shipped to so far, 27 non pays.
It isn't the parts I am worried about, I was just going to trash them anyway. Damn though, ripping someone off for a used auto part? Usually, I will tell them, just pay the shipping, I'll give you the part. Even free, they feel like they have to steal it. a 100% failure rate doesn't exactly fill me with hope. Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and what you did about it, if anything. Not necessarily ebay, just any situation where someone took advantage of you while you were just doing them a favor.
Do the people you are dealing with have any positive feedback from previous transactions?? You can try the ebay square deal mediation to see if you can collect. I think that is the name of the department that handles disputes.
i cant believe 27 people would do that, maybe you will end up getting some money, but i see ur point where your not worried about the money its just the dead beet inconsiderate people you have to worry about, i havnt had that happen to me yet, i usually have good luck, i usually wait till the money gets to me then i said the part, i dont know what you would do, besides good luck with the dead beet people.
Jeff: There is no way for me to check feedback. The way I have it listed, people don't bid because there are so many parts. They email me with what part they need and send me an offer. I have even had grandmothers buying parts for college student grandsons, stiff me. Man, when grandma mucks you, that's bad!
Fordman: I can't believe it either but so far, 100% non pays. I have shipped these parts, provided them with tracking numbers, followed up with emails. I have just been totally ignored. You are correct. It is the point that burns me, not the few bucks I may get from the part. Except, I have to pay a shipping invoice when I get it.
Even though you're not worried about the parts, it sounds like you're gonna be out more than a few bucks for the shipping. Don't know how ya can get any money but bet it will be awhile before you trust any one before ya see the cash again.
I think you got scammed by one guy. The grandma story sounds a little suspicious. I don't think there is anything you can do. Make sure you recieve payment before sending out the parts.

One guy? What grandma story is that? I have a woman that "bought" the gauge cluster. She said she was helping her grandson out because he was in college and had no money. I sent the cluster to her via UPS on the 12th of this month. It was delivered to her on the 16th. Today is the 20th. I haven't heard a single word from her since I sent her the tracking number. Even after 3 follow up emails. I think you are detached from reality. One guy.... I wish.
Hey man, IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT. No one forced you to send the parts with out payment. Frankly, what you did is about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
Also EBay will not help you get the money back because the buyers did not purchase the product off E-bay!!
ALso like it was said before, I to think that your story is just a bit exagerated!!!

Dude, relax. I just thought the story about a grandma buying for her grandson sounded suspicious. Now that I know the whole story, it makes sense
a friend of mine is going through crap like this right now. we won the bids on e-bay for subs and amps and a few speaker component sets for a truck that he is rebuilding. the guy selling them had a ton of positive feedback. we send the money orders out the day the bidding ended talked to the guy a few times told us he would have us the stuff right away. a week went by and we were like wheere are the tracking numbers. he said dont worry its on the way. well that was in october and since then a whole bunch of negative feedback has showed up on this guys username and now he has closed his e-bay account so there is no way to go after him through e-bay. he has about $2400 dollars of my friends money that was suppose to be going into this truck so he can get it finished and sell it. the thing that sucks is no one cares about it and we cant do anything to him. he doesnt answer his phone or e-mails, and he actually got his cell phone number changed. i know exacly what you are saying about sending the parts and wondering if you are going to see the money. luckily in all my transactions the other party has lived up to their end of the deal. good luck...
One thing I was wondering is if you could contact the local police in the town where a deadbeat buyer lives (or at least where the stuff was sent to) and file a charge with them? It seems like there could be several things they could be charged with- mail fraud, theft, who knows what else. That is assuming you have a name and address where the stuff was sent to and have proof of delivery. A friend of mine almost got scammed selling some video games. He took the information he had (ebay username, phone number etc), did some internet research and somehow found out the kids real name, address, home phone number etc. and called the house and talked to the kids parents. He got his money within a few days after that.
You should always request payment in advance, plus shipping costs, just like any retailer would do. Advise them personal checks take 10-12 working days to clear. Money orders ship right away.
The days of making a deal by taking a person's word, or a handshake are over. Too many people only look out for themselves. Most times now, if you do a person a favor, it'll turn and bite you.
Like I said, it wasn't really the money. I wasn't planning on making a lot of money on stripping the car. I just thought someone could use the parts, I was going to trash them anyway. It is just the point. I am amazed that so many people are this way. I had 2 emails this morning, a guy in Orlando got his things yesterday and said he sent the money out Saturday. A Lady in Georgia that I haven't shipped to yet, wants me to have the money in hand before I do.
