I'm possibly moving to Maryland this fall, does anyone know where i can find how high you can actually go (bumper to ground). And if I'm over is there a way around the it ie... wider bumpers. Washington state is pretty much unlimited in height, and I hate to have to sell my truck.
Try here. http://mva.state.md.us/
I have found many of the rules on the site with a little bit of searching. Can't guarantee it will be there, but worth a try.
Lived in northern MD my whole life moved to Southern PA 4 years ago. Law in MD is 28" to bottom of factory bumper, If you alter bumper or swap bumpers they measure to frame rail (no exceptions). As for Farm Truck tag, I did it for 10 years as i grew up on a farm. That law was changed in 98 and now must comply with 28" bumper law.Old law would only allow you to have a 30" height law as you would be able to change to 10,000 lb tags. The troopers in Carroll County knew me and knew me well for some of my trucks was young and crazy at time, and in return i paid alot of fines. Fender flairs and Mud flaps were always a big issue to.Most of my friends still live in MD and as far as i know most of the laws have not changed since i moved. Hope this Helps.
If your truck is over 25 years old you can get street rod or historic tags. These will allow you to do whatever you want to your truck as long as you dont daily drive it. I just put street rod tags on my 79 and I plan to go taller and larger tires.

Actually the Motor Vehicle code in Md states that "the bottom of the bumper shall be NO HIGHER than 30" from the ground using the original bumper mount." Owners CANNOT lift the frame higher than 30" and use a modified mount for the bumper" The fine was $50.00 back in the mid late 90's when i was a Federal Cop in Annapolis. Out of state tags was no excuse. You drive it in Md it has to meet Md statute. The Mids at the Naval Academy hated me! LOL!!!
Problem was some officers wife complained to the Superintendent about a safety issue......her Honda would go right underneath most of the "highboys" at the time. I honestly wanted to tell her to wave as she went under but the shift Lt. didn't think it was such a hot Idea!
