I use flourescent lighting in my garage. The twin 40 watt kind. All of mine have a real ballast and not the baby transformer. Some had it but as they go bad I replace them with a real ballast. Now I have some questions. My lighting was installed several at a time as I had money. During this period of time they had those energy saving fixtures which I think were 34 watts. I also have a couple of bulbs that say 25 watts but claim they put out the light of 40 watts. All are the T12 configuration.
Can the resident expert please tell me what combinations will work as far as ballast and bulbs?
Can someone explain why you can reverse a bulb and it will sometimes work?
Can someone explain why a bulb (old) would not work in one fixture but will work in another?
Can someone just tell me everything there is to know about flourescent fixtures, bulbs, transformers and ballast?
