Ok, heres the deal.
My clutch went out 5 months ago and i replaced it with a HD clutch from local parts store (clutch kit, and had flywheel resurfaced) The kit had a 1 year, 12k mi warenty. Recently, when im on it prety hard in my 99 350 cc dually psd the rpm's seem to jump for a second and then they seem to increase normaly. It is possiable that a clutch with less then 8k on it is going bad??
It only happens sometimes;in other words, once it happens once, it wont happen for a few minutes after that.
Whenever you do a clutch job, you should also highly consider replacing the throw-out bearing with another high quality replacement, and or a slave-cylinder.... just something to consider if you don't want to get back in if the bearing will be next...
it was done better then professionaly by me, myself and I. When i say kit, it came with pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing and disk (while i was in there, i reinforced the clutch fork due to a TSB i read) The OEM disk has 3 large springs and 3 small springs (within the large springs) and the "HD" disk that i put in had 6 large with 6 small within (springs).
My factory clutch went out by having the disk fail and springs come loose, so i know that that isnt the problem.
I drove the truck again this afternoon and the problem didnt happen. I guess ill find out if the clutch is going when i haul my dads John Deere this week (tractor's about 14,000#)
i was thinking probably that too, although, i replaced the rear main oil seal as well when i had the tranny off. To me, it looked really hard for oil from the rear main to get on the flywheel, it would have to leak down from top of engine i think. For now ill write this problem off as being a little bit of oil on the flywheel, figment of my imagination or spining my tires in 4th and 5th gear
