A few weeks ago, truck wouldnt start, jumped it and fine for two weeks or so. Then last week wouldnt start again. Thought maybe loose ground. Not the case. I chased a bunch of wires, turned out that a + cable to the soleniod had broken at the wire loop. Fixed the broken wire. Seemed to have fixed it. Then went to start, no go. Took wires off, back on, started fine. Then wouldnt start again.
When it doesnt start......move the key to 'on' and the fuel pump runs, turn to 'start' amd the volts drop to zero, the pump stops and the dome lights off.
Try again, might or might not start. Battery does not loose its charge. Removed the - battery cable while running, kept running, therefore no charging problem.
I thought of 2 possibilities........
1. Soloniod is going bad.
2. Ignition system somewhere is faulty.
Just a word of advice, DO NOT remove the battery cables while the engine is running!!!!! The battery acts as a filter for voltage spikes from the alternator. Removing the battery cables can also create a huge Di/Dt, resulting in a huge voltage spike that can damage anything electronic, like PCM, etc.....

Bad battery cable or corroded connection at battery. Check the + and the -, at the battery and the connection at the block and starter relay.
At this point I'm just tracing every wire I can get ahold of and taking it off, cleaning it up and putting it back on. Its gonna take a long time to get to them all. I figure its preventive for the next problem as I go along. But then, when I find the problem, I'm sure that I'll be done with wire cleaning.
But then, I did find some things this morning that might have contributed.
