Will 33X12.5X15 tires fit on a 1996 stock rim? I know a lift is i order i just wasent sure if i needed new wheels as well. I like the stock rims. Also will a 2inch lift be sufficient for moderate off-roading. thanks for imput.
I think you can squeeze that tires on the rim, but that is a wide tire for that rim. I would recommend getting some new wheels and you can get a diff. backspacing to eliminate the rub on the inside of the wheels. I bet the tire company will recommend a ten inch wide rim with those 12.5 inch wide tires. I think you will need at least 2 inches of lift for 33's. I have 31's on my '96 and I think I could go with 32's no problem, but that is all without rubbing. I ordered a set of wheels and tires (BF AT KO's and rock crawler powder coated wheels) when I got mine. I hated the stock wheels (I have an XL) as they were ugly.
I have 33s on my bronco now and no lift. You will want to get at least 10" wide wheels for 12.50" tires or you will risk spinning the tire off the rim while offroading.
Broncoroadkill, having a wider rim will cause the tire to spin of much easier then a narrower rim especially when they are aired down. 8 inch rims would be minimum width for that wide of tire but like burnt piston said 7.5's can and have been used before. also running 33's on your year bronco will require you to shim out your front bumper 1-2inches to keep the tire from rubbing. but when you offroad they will rub for sure unless you lift the truck 4"s
I have a 92 with the 15x6 rims...if i want to run a 12.5 wide tire will i need a different backspacing and if so what should i get or how do i figure that out...thnks
I would ask the place you plan to buy your wheels from. They will be able to look up your current backspacking and make a suggestion with your new wheel/tire size. I wish I could remember the backspacing on the wheels when I ordered mine, but I dont remember.
