97 4.2 rebuild
I be new to this board
Ok, I have one of those dreaded 1997 4.2 motors that had the hydro lock @ 160,000 mi. and not only did it bend my rod it blew it right out the oil pan!! (Very ugly) I was able to save the block, Its has been professionally cleaned line bored and honed also all new block parts. Heads rebuilt crank check out and ground all internal parts checked out ok except the # 1 rod and piston that was Broke in half. Now should I stay away from the gaskets from Ford or should I go with all aftermarket like Fel-pro and Federal-Mogul?”
Thanks

If you use the new updated Ford gaskets you should not ever have any problems. I use to use Fel-Pro when I built small block Chevys. They are good gaskets.
