1995 5.0L Engine Oil Capacity
1995 5.0L Engine Oil Capacity
I bought a 1995 F-150 4x4 and have a question regarding the engine oil capacity. The original owners manual listed the crankcase capacity at 5 Qts with a footnote that says "Add 1 quart for filter replacement."
I bought 6 qts of oil, did an an oil change including the filter, but after adding 5qts, I ran the engine for a while, let it set, and checked the dipstick. It was right at the full mark. I did not add the 6th qt.
Is the book wrong, or does it really take 6 qts? If it takes 6 qts, any thoughts on why mine would have showed full after 5?
Thanks,
DTrain

That's funny that you ask that. That's the first question I had when I purchased my '95. I just put in 5 quarts, it brings it right to full. Not sure what the deal is, I checked and my dipstick is the right size... So, I just put in 5 quarts and call it a day.
