Duel tanks

My truck has duel tanks and I know that they dont make them anymore. I wonder why they quit making them and if ford will ever bring them back out. I think they are very useful and handy.

Probably trying to keep cost competitive. I agree though- I love the dual tanks. Besides capacity it's nice to leave 2-3 gallon in a tank just in case.

I agree as well. the dual tanks are great . they can be troublesome at times but it sure is sweet when you are on a trip and some one looks at your gas guage and says " man your getting low on gas" and all you do is say yeah right and just flick to the rear tank and keep on truckin ford style!

yea its deffinately nice to be able to shop around for gas. some of the trucks w/the 34-45 gallon tanks are also nice. i think the duals combined are 36 or 36. it should deffinately be an option on the new f150's then again, so should manual transmissions. anybody also bothered my the fact that the base model f150 starts at 22k?

Off the subject a littel. I took a tank for a bronco and replaced the back tank with it. I hade to get the sendin gunit for it and some diff straps. But it holds 38 galons ( i think, was a few years ago). So then I had 19 in front and 38 in the back. It was like a camel!!
But the new ones I think it is becouse of space and money.

Now there an idea!!

Maybe you can send me the details of your swap. During Road Destuction Season I can drive 1000-1500 miles a week, would be nice to be able to carry a little more gas with me at times.

clipper- could you post how you did the swap? Thats an awesome Idea that i would love to do. you would be just like you said a camel.

Jess factor- I think that ford is making the price on the new f-150 way too high. I remember when trucks were the lowest priced vehicle and no body wanted them. but now everyone dresses them up and lowers them or puts so much stuff on them to the point where you cant even use it as a truck. Every truck that I get I treat it as a truck i take care of it but i am not afraid to put a load in the bed of it.

31 gallon aft axle replacement

Visit www.transferflow.com and take a look at the tanks they have to offer. We installed a new 31gal aft axle tank so we could get rid of the front tank. My only complaint was the powder coating. Other than that, it's an awesome tank.

Out of curiosity, why did you want to get rid of the front tank?

I like the dual tanks and have thought of doing the Bronco tanks swap on the rear one too. For weight distribution, it would probably be better to go with an aftermarket extra capacity front tank, but man they are so expensive. Im sure a Bronco tank at a junk yard wouldnt be nearly as much as an aftermarket tank. I wonder about the spare tire though...

Oh by the way, the F450/550 chassis cabs can still be ordered with the rear aux tank. Total fuel capacity is like 60 gallons with both tanks!

They don't have dual tanks anymore? Interesting.

I have rear tank with 17 gallons and the front one with 19 gallons.
I am currently removing the rear tank to reinstall the fuel pump. Would it be possible to do swap the rear tank to a Bronco tank? I don't want to have to modify anything, and I still want my spare under the rear tank.
