Super-Duties rule Florida

when i was in Florida for the weekend, i counted WAY more super duties then chabbies and dodgies put together. WAY more.

one thing that suprised me the most though, was how many of the trucks ( all types ) were riding on over sized/offroad tires and wheels.

ok, i live in Minnesota. a "real" winter here we can get some pretty decent snowfalls. Florida doesnt get snow. so i was suprised that almost all of the full size trucks there had big wheels, and only about 1- out of 10 in minnesota have oversized tires. must be a "status" thing down there.

just thought id bring this up. anyone else notice this?

The oversize tires are more of a hinderance in snow IMO. For snow I've always thought that tall narrow tires are what is wanted in snow and mud. Course they probably have more disposable income.

I'm glad to hear guys in Florida are taking advantage of the lenient lift laws.

TRUE- people sometimes like having the "pizza cutter" tires in the snow or ice, but personally i ive prefered my 33" or 35" BFG all-terrains on my trucks, which are 12.50" wide. I KNOW I KNOW... the bfgs have a better tread pattern than stock tires, but when it comes to deep snow i like them being taller. plus i NEVER got stuck in the mud when i was playing with my dodge ( 35"x12.50" BFG allterrains. )

i guess what im getting at here is, why do people in FLORIDA need the tires? i didnt see alot of places to go mudding or offroading. im sure theres plenty of places, but these were on daily driver trucks, that were so clean you can tell theyve never been trail riding with them

78F350- the majority of them werent even lifted /jacked up... people just pinched the 33"s on with wider custom rims. my 33"s are pinched on the stock wheels.

Some trucks like that ride a bit better (taller/wider but not to much taller) and I figure they control better in the sand. But Im not sure

I think it is the look. Another thing is that I would think the majority are hunters that hunt deer with dogs. In most of the hunting clubs in Florida and Georgia if you run dogs you better have a truck with good over size tires if you want to keep up and not bottom out in the ruts I might leave!

Yeah, there are alot of superduties around here. While I don't have a superduty, I would love to have one. I think that a F250/F350 lifted and big tires is one of the meanest looking trucks on the road. I don't like when they have a 10" lift and look like a monster truck, but with a decent lift and the right size tires they look sweet.

i guess what im getting at here is, why do people in FLORIDA need the tires? i didnt see alot of places to go mudding or offroading. im sure theres plenty of places, but these were on daily driver trucks, that were so clean you can tell theyve never been trail riding with them
One of the main reasons why many trucks especially Superduties have large tires and usually mild lifts is because almost any point you go in Florida, you are still always something like 50 miles from the ocean. We have beaches all the way around the state, the state has numerous lakes and national parks and other places where being tall enough comes in handy. And about them being on daily drivers and not looking beat up, most of them around here are used for lawn care businesses, fence installing and just about any other type of outdoor business there is.

That's true, as long as they are balanced better
If they become unbalanced they ride like total crap
Thats the case with any tire, but the taller they are, the more they like to egg shape

Around here i count alot more SD's than chevys or dodges. A good sized amount of lifted SDs. I haven't seen many lifted chevys or dodges.

You need a wide tire in the sand so you don't sink.
